SOUTH FLORIDA – On Letter From A Broken Heart, one of the songs from his latest album, Wingy Danejah recalls the pain of a failed relationship. It is an openness he strived for on the 13-song set which was released on July 17 by his Danejah Boy Records.
Agape Love is the title of that album, which is produced by Kent Murphy. A committed Christian, Wingy Danejah shows that even people of faith can express feelings of emotional pain.
A Song About Love and Relationships
“The song is rooted in personal experience. I’ve experienced hurt when it comes to love and relationships, and through that journey I came to realize that the only love that never fails is God’s love,” he said. “That’s what Agape Love is really about — discovering unconditional love through Jesus Christ, even after heartbreak.”
Agape Love is the Florida-based artist’s eighth album. Like his previous collections, he does songs with reggae, dancehall and hip hop arrangements.
Letter From A Broken Heart is one of its previously released tracks. Others are What The World Needs, Si Mi Yah and God’s Plan.
Wingy Danejah is executive producer for Agape Love. While continuing to record songs on so-called secular rhythms, he is determined to make a statement with his latest work.
“I wanted to step into something different musically while still keeping it authentic,” he said.
Raised in Portmore — a massive housing development on the outskirts of Kingston, Jamaica’s capital — Wingy Danejah was a dancehall act before embracing the Word.
He is eyeing music’s ultimate prize for Agape Love.
“I always aim high. I believe Agape Love has the quality, message, and impact to compete at the highest level,” said Wingy Danejah. “My goal is for the album to be recognized at the Grammy Awards, including Best Reggae Album, along with other categories where the music fits.”
