TAMARAC, Fla. — Philip Rose, deputy director of tourism for the Americas at the Jamaica Tourist Board, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 12th annual Unique Caribbean American Heritage Month and Culture Awards.
The award was presented June 28 at Colony West Golf Club in Tamarac, recognizing Rose’s more than two decades of leadership in advancing Jamaica’s tourism industry and strengthening the destination’s presence across international markets.
Rose has led strategic initiatives across Canada, the United States, Latin America and the Caribbean. Consequently, he has helped drive record visitor arrivals, expanded airlift and stronger global partnerships. His work has helped reinforce Jamaica’s position as one of the world’s leading tourism destinations.
“Philip has contributed significantly to the growth and modernization of Jamaica’s tourism industry,” said Edmund Bartlett, Jamaica’s minister of tourism. “His visionary leadership helped pioneer Jamaica’s engagement with its diaspora and expand our reach in key international markets. While his contributions are deeply reflected in Jamaica’s ongoing growth and success, his influence can also be seen in the many tourism professionals he has mentored and inspired along the way.”
Unique Caribbean American Heritage Month and Culture Awards
The Unique Caribbean American Heritage Month and Culture Awards were established 12 years ago by Unique Creations By Liz. This company focuses on event production, marketing and community engagement. The awards recognize individuals and organizations whose leadership and service have made a lasting impact on their communities. Additionally, they help raise awareness of National Caribbean American Heritage Month.

Tourism Marketing
A longtime leader in destination sales and marketing, Rose helped change how Jamaica connects with travelers. He did this by using digital and social media strategies. He also supported diaspora tourism initiatives. These efforts strengthened ties with Jamaicans living abroad. They became visitors, advocates, and ambassadors for the destination.
Rose also has mentored future tourism professionals through guest lectures, speaking engagements and collaboration with industry stakeholders across the Americas.
Previous Lifetime Achievement Award Honorees
He joins a distinguished group of Lifetime Achievement Award honorees. This group includes former Florida Lt. Gov. Jennifer Carroll, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam, Broward College President Torey Alston, Jamaica Tourist Board Chairman John Lynch and former Pembroke Pines Mayor Frank Ortis.
