Jamaican Diaspora In South Florida to celebrate Independence and Emancipation

SOUTH FLORIDA – The Consulate General of Jamaica will  host the annual Ecumenical Service in recognition of Jamaica’s 52nd Anniversary of Independence, and Emancipation to be held on Sunday, August 3nd, 2014, starting at 4:00 p.m. at the Faith Center, located at 5555 NW 95 Avenue, Sunrise, Florida 33351.

The guest preacher will be the Rev. Dr. Stephen Clark, Senior Pastor, Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Palmetto Bay, while the officiating Minister will be Bishop Henry Fernandez, Senior Pastor at the Faith Center.

The program will include recitals from the South Florida Caribbean Chorale led by musical Director, Steve Higgins, the Tallawah Mento Band, the Jamaica Folk Revue and the Sierra Norwood Youth Cultural Ensemble.  Scripture readings will be conducted by students from the Diaspora community associations.

Proceeds of collection will benefit the Jamaican Diaspora Legacy Foundation of Florida as well as charities located in Jamaica.
