Caribbean Musical Chairs – Qualified Only
CAYMAN ISLANDS – The well known but old game of musical chairs does not see much action today given the proliferation of electronic devices and the disappearance of social events for children more adept with fingers than physicality. In a rare appearance in the Cayman Islands the obese boss of my slim daughter almost destroyed her and other staff in a game best and politely described for those without excessive calorie intake.
The Caribbean Today
However, this game has much application in the Caribbean today in the new world politics, economy, AI, social interaction, crime and the justice system. Politics of today has only uncovered the hidden truth of the extreme dialectics or isms giving way to excess and largesse when even those caught out by illicit enrichment or lies do not lose their chair in cabinet or faux society.
They need not worry as they will be replaced by the like in a few years, probably to include the four of the sitting Jamaican government who were blind, deaf and mute while integrity charges, falsehoods and illicit enrichment crowded the upper reaches of government leadership.
Government of Trinidad
Their silence is not unique but it has proliferated in Trinidad where the business, labour and civil society were politely quiet as commercial people including women, the sick and the elderly were locked up without bail or the thin veneer of respectability available by court review of charges. Loud and verbose during Carnival, the Mighty Sparrow must be rolling in his grave as mute chickens gyrate briefly.
Privy Council
Thankfully, the Privy Council has stood as a bulwark against state excesses such as the recent Hadeed case of oppressive conduct by the government of Trinidad against a sick but successful businessman, his wife and old aunt, incarcerated without the option of bail for alleged words. Other persons accused of vile acts, walk the streets on bail. There should be a reckoning against those following orders on this disgraceful jaunt.
The Hadeeds are now free but there has to be a commission to review those responsible.
All thanks to their tenacious and fearless lawyers whose example should be followed throughout the Caribbean.
This has not been simulcast in Jamaica where business associations and churches have spoken out loudly against the profusion of illicit hygiene and pathological lying in that cabinet.
The legal profession and judiciary will be replaced in their chairs in the fullness of time to repeat those mentally ill detained in prison for decades, government workers and others before the courts for years only to be released without charge or trial post facto.
The destruction of liberty and life.
The Game of Musical Chairs in Government
As the music continues the chairs will be filled by the quick and the rest will wander the four corners of the Caribbean recovering from yet another hurricane, emergency power and lock up laws, absent employment, silent diaspora, remittance profusion and government leadership posts connected by party, tribe, inner circle and yes, family connection.
The Pharisees will be having a field day with the imaginary truth also hypocrisy.
