Wayne Wonder Teams Up With Mya For Steamy Single
MIAMI – Grammy Award-nominated reggae star Wayne Wonder adds heat to his new single that’s already blazing the charts by teaming up with Grammy Award-winning songstress Mya on the sizzling “If I Ever” Remix. The mastermind of Sean Roy Strachan, producer at Miami-based Jewmaican Records, “If I Ever” Remix puts the tune into extended play for Wonder, who hit reggae charts across the U.S., Canada, U.K. and the Caribbean with the original track, earlier this summer.
The original mix was produced by Mark “Bronco” Marsh and co-produced and mixed by Grammy Award-winning music producer Anthony “CD”Kelly for Wonder’s very own SingSo Records. Once it started hitting ears and airwaves around the world, it caught the attention of Sean Roy, who got Mya into the studio to listen to the track and eventually fuse her vocals with Wonder’s for the monster single. The duo performed it live at Reggae Sumfest following Nicki Minaj’s set, on July 23 in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
“Working with Wayne Wonder was such a delight,” says Mya. “I’ve been a fan of his work for quite some time. We linked through a mutual producer, Sean Roy, who also produced our remix to ‘If I Ever.’ While working in the studio and rehearsals, Wayne possesses a very focused, but kind, humble spirit. I also got to see another side of him when he ripped up the stage at Sumfest 2011! What a treat!”

Wonder, who is currently on a North American tour with reggae icon Beres Hammond, is equally as excited about the collaboration. “It’s great to have the single on the charts and collaborate with Mya on the remix,” reveals Wonder. “We took it to the core when Mya joined me for the Sumfest performance and it was well received. Up next is the video so I’m looking forward to getting that out to the fans.” Plans for the video will go into motion once the tour with Beres ends; it will be directed by the internationally-acclaimed director Gil Green.

Miami-based producer Sean Roy Strachan has produced tracks for artists such as Tanto Metro & Devonte and Kevin Lyttle, to name a few, and is also one of the producers in Sean Kingston’s Time Is Money Entertainment camp. “Initially, I presented the remix project to good friend, Sean Paul, who really liked it and had agreed to do a feature on the record,” discloses Strachan. “But while in a listening session in Miami with Mya regarding tracks I produced for her upcoming albums, we somehow came across the ‘If I Ever’ track. Before then, I had never thought about it, but instantly I knew it would be a song better-suited for a male and female artist combination. We got into the studio a few weeks later and the rest is history.”
The remix also saw co-production from Christopher Garvey and Joshua Rechani, and was mixed at Interscope Records by multi-Grammy Award-winning engineer, Niko Marzouka. The sizzling single is now available on iTunes.
