GraceKennedy Group CEO, Don Wehby Receives International Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) Distinguished Member 2015 Award
Kingston, Jamaica – GraceKennedy Group CEO, Don Wehby was awarded the International Chartered Accountants of Jamaica (ICAJ) Distinguished Member 2015 honour at the ICAJ’s Golden Awards Gala at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Thursday, December 3.
The ICAJ recognizes one of its members each year who “through service and achievements, has contributed to the prestige and status of the Institute and the Accountancy profession.”
In his citation, the ICAJ applauded Mr Wehby, a fellow of the ICAJ for 22 years, for his “sterling contribution to the profession, the private sector, Government and the nation.” He was further recognised for his record of “distinguished service” GraceKennedy.
In receiving his award, Mr. Wehby acknowledged the significant support of the GraceKennedy team in accomplishing his goals. He further charged his colleagues present, to volunteer some of their services to government entities to make a meaningful impact. Mr Wehby reiterated how strongly he felt about this, by speaking to his two year stint in the public service from 2007 to 2009.
“If each of us decided to give one hour of free service to a statutory body or government agency, can you imagine the impact that could have on a nation?” he challenged. “The end result would be better management, better control, better governance.”
Mr Wehby who holds a BSc and an MSc in Accounting from the University of the West Indies (Mona), also serves as a Director of several of GraceKennedy’s Boards including Chairman of First Global Holdings, GK Foods & Services Limited and GraceKennedy Money Services SRL.
