Peter London Global Dance Company Opens New Season for Miramar Cultural Center with “Fire in the Coal Pot” — An Explosive and Sensational Dance Extravaganza

MIRAMAR – The Peter London Global Dance Company (PLGDC) in partnership with the Miramar Cultural Center / Arts Park (MCC) and Riddims Marketing present “Fire in the Coal Pot”, an electrifying evening of thrilling dance and music in celebration of the company’s fifth anniversary.

The presentation, scheduled for Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Miramar Cultural Center, will serve as MCC’s 2016-2017 season opener, and the launch of a partnership with the Peter London Global Dance Company.

“We are ecstatic that MCC has chosen PLGDC as one of its premier arts partners”, states Peter London, founder and Artistic Director of the Peter London Global Dance Company. “Through this dynamic and creative partnership of excellence, the local Broward community, especially students, will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse offering of dance programs and performances by some of the most recognized dance professionals i n the country.”

The evening will be filled with thrilling choreography and will include a world premiere performance of a choreographic improvisation set to live music, performed by master steel pannist, Leon Foster Thomas and opera baritone, Angel Refusé, accompanied by the incomparable pianist, Felix Spengler.

A highlight of this fifth anniversary celebration is the recognition of five outstanding women who will receive the first annual PLGDC  Community Award of Excellence.

Elgeta Thompson-Martin, Sandra Bernard-Bastien, Yvette Belle, Carla Hill and Angela Messam, each will be honored for their exemplary contribution of their time, talent and treasure, in fostering a more unifying citizenship within the local community.  Former Lieutenant Governor, Jennifer Carroll will make the presentation honoring the women.

Tickets to “Fire in the Coal Pot” are available online at miramarculturalcenter.org, by phone at 954-602-4500 or at MCC’s box office, noon to 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Tickets are $25, $35, and $40. Seniors and students with ID are $20. The $40 ticket includes an onsite, post-event cocktail reception.
