Delta inaugurates flight to North Eleuthera, Bahamas

NASSAU, The Bahamas – Delta Airlines inaugural non-stop flight from Atlanta, Georgia to North Eleuthera arrived Saturday, June 16 with 50 passengers.

They were welcomed by Minister of State for Tourism the Hon. Branville McCartney, MP for North Eleuthera and Speaker of Parliament Alvin Smith, and government and Delta officials.

“We are extremely fortunate to have attracted such a reputable air carrier from a major US hub,” said Mr. McCartney. “Atlanta is a thriving metropolis.

“This new non-stop service provides market access to a significant percentage of the US population who reside in close proximity to the Delta Airlines Atlanta hub.”

The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism’s statistics show that more than 70 per cent of the passengers who will arrive on these flights will originate from a market other than Atlanta, he said.

With more than 700 flights per day into Atlanta, Delta operates the largest single hub in the world, said the Minister.

“I thank you, on behalf of the government and people of The Bahamas for initiating these new services,” said Mr. McCartney.

“I extend the full support of the Ministry of Tourism and Aviation to ensure their success. Our fondest desire is to see the frequency of these flights increase to daily service within the next year.”
