Consulate General of Jamaica hosts Service of thanksgiving to mark 53rd anniversary of Independence
SOUTH FLORIDA – In recognition of Jamaica’s 53rd Anniversary of Independence, the Consulate General of Jamaica in Miami will hold the annual Ecumenical Service on Sunday, August 2nd at 4:00 p.m. The Service will be held at the Faith Center, 5555 NW 95 Avenue, Sunrise, FL 33351.
This year’s sermon will be delivered by Bishop Henry Fernandez, Senior Pastor of the Faith Center Ministries. The officiating clergy will be the Reverend Horace Ward, Senior Pastor, Holy Family Episcopal Church in Miami Gardens. Participating clergy will be the Reverend Dean Green, Associate Pastor of the Christway Baptist Church in Miramar, and Pastor Andrew Samuels of the Miami Seventh Day Baptist Church.

This year, the cultural performances will precede the Worship, and will feature performances by the massed voice South Florida Caribbean Chorale, the Tallawah Mento Band and the Jamaica Folk Revue, and the Sierra Norwood Youth Voice Ensemble.
Proceeds of collection will benefit the Food for the Poor; The Women’s Resource & Outreach Centre Limited, Kingston; and the Jamaica Diaspora Legacy Foundation of Florida, Inc.
Consul General Franz Hall is inviting all Jamaicans and friends of the Diaspora to participate in this special occasion of thanksgiving to commemorate the Nation’s 53rd anniversary of Independence.
