Celebrate Caribbean Culinary Excellence at Caribbean Village Summer Soirée

[SOUTH FLORIDA] – COVID-19 knocked the wind out of fun and frolic in 2020, but on June 20, 2021 Lindell Douglas returns with Caribbean Heritage Month’s most appetizing event.
The sixth Caribbean Village Summer Soirée is slated for June 20 at Solaris Garden in Southwest Ranches. It was cancelled last year due to COVID-19.
“Summer Soirée will be (in the) evening to enjoy the ultimate all-inclusive experience; Including, 25 dishes, islands cocktails, entertainment, complimentary parking, exquisite decoration and comfortable ambience, plus a great vibes,” said Douglas, a Jamaican who first staged the event in 2015.
Caribbean Countries Represented
This year, culinary delights from nine Caribbean countries can be savored. Those are Antigua, The Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Lucia, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Caribbean food reflects the diversity (African, Asian, Middle Eastern) of the region which is the focus of Summer Soiree. Dishes include oil down from Grenada, oxtail and jerked chicken from Jamaica and curried shrimp from St. Lucia.
Douglas is from St. Thomas parish in eastern Jamaica, known for its jerked chicken and curried goat. A Certified Financial Planner, he has operated LDA Wealth Management since 1999 and has been an event promoter for 11 years.
Caribbean Village Summer Soirée is not just about cuisine and partying. It is organized by The Galleon Foundation, a nonprofit Douglas started to help fund student scholarships in addition to, mentoring programs in South Florida.
For the event, a revised COVID-19 protocols will be observed. Patrons and servers are required to wear a mask, while hand-sanitizing stations will be provided. Because it is an outdoor event, fully-vaccinated persons are permitted to remove their masks.
