MIAMI – Success South Florida, today’s leading publication for South Florida’s black business, announces its 2008 honorees for the coveted 40 Under 40 awards given annually by the magazine.

Each year, Success South Florida names its 40 most influential black business professionals who are under the age of 40 and who have made significant strides for their relatively young ages. The 40 under 40 issue distinguishes the leading, young black professionals in industries such as medicine, media, education, real estate, law, finance, government and community development.

Success South Florida has scoured the tri-county area of Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach, receiving more than 150 nominations, to determine this impressive list of local black professionals.

“Having been born and raised in Miami it is so gratifying to be able to work and give back to the community that helped to nurture me. It is indeed an honor to have my efforts acknowledged, particularly with the understanding and charge that at 28 years old the best is still yet to come,” Persephone Taylor-Gary, Public Policy & Outreach Coordinator at The Childrenbs Trust.

“Being selected as one of the 40 under 40 is such an honor! Attorneys are often not acknowledged for their hard work or for contributions made to the community. I believe that it is my obligation to balance my work responsibilities with educating others and giving back to individuals who are socially, politically and/or economically disadvantaged. It is an honor to be recognized for doing something that already gives me a sense of accomplishment,b Tracy A. Mitchell, Attorney-at-Law, Becker and Poliakoff.

“I was born and raised in South Florida, and it excites me to be a part of the 40 under 40 issue of Success South Florida magazine. Ibve never before seen a magazine so dedicated to showcasing the success of young urban professionals. Dexter Bridgeman and his team continue to do it again and again — creating a connection between us that can not only make us better as individuals but also a powerful force in the South Florida community,b Caridad Hernandez, Producer, NBC 6.

A private launch and awards ceremony will be held on July 25th at Morton’s North Miami Beach from 12 Noon to 3 PM and is sponsored by Ocean Bank.
