US Premier Of Nelson Mandela’s Personal Sketches At The Miramar Cultural Center
MIRAMAR – Ten pieces sketched by the late Nelson Mandela will be displayed for the first time in the United States in an exhibit titled “Mandela Legacy.”
The pieces sketched during Mr. Mandela’s 27-year imprisonment will make their US debut during Black History Month, at the Ansin Art Gallery within the Miramar Cultural Center. The exhibit runs from February 2-27, 2015, and will also showcase works from prominent local artists who were inspired by Mr. Mandela.
“We are honored to host this exclusive exhibition highlighting the works of one of the world’s greatest leaders,” said Cultural Affairs Director Valerie Norman Gammon. “It is especially poignant that though Mr. Mandela is gone physically, we get a glimpse of his 27-year incarceration through these sketches.”
Mandela Legacy will be curated by ArtServe, a Broward-based arts advocacy group, and is free to the public.
