St. Kitts Conducts Successful Road Show

Basseterre, St. Kitts – From May 3 to May 10, 2010, the St. Kitts Tourism Authority was joined by public and private sector tourism industry partners to host a road show for top selling travel agents and wholesalers in key target markets of the Northeastern U.S.A.

Beginning with an event in Boston, the road show also included events in Mahwah, NJ, Philadelphia, PA and Washington DC/Maryland before the finale event in the Stamford, CT. A special luncheon that supplemented the road show effort was also held on May 7 in New York City.

Tourism partners, American Airlines, Brinley Gold Rum and various hotel and other industry supporters lent their expertise to the events, adding value to the program for each road show stop. Destination presentations were complemented by video and/or still images of the island, Caribbean music and various other elements that highlighted the islands culture, activities, natural beauty and unique characteristics. Participants were encouraged to provide feedback, which will ultimately help refine St. Kitts’ emerging tourism product.

“This road show has been an important step forward in the continued development of St. Kitts’ relationships with our top producing agents,” said Mrs. Rosecita Jeffers, CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism, who flew in from island specifically for these events. “By working in conjunction with our partners in the tourism industry, we all stand to achieve greater success than we could by working independently. I hope that the progress we made will be just the first step in increasing the effectiveness of our efforts.”

In addition to CEO Jeffers, St. Kitts was represented by Claire Rawson, Member of the Board of Directors of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority; Jacinth-Henry Martin, Manager of US Operations for the St. Kitts Tourism Authority; and Denise Zimber, Industry Relations, Marketing & Sales for the St. Kitts Tourism Authority. Andrew Rowe, Manager of Associations, Groups and Meetings for American Airlines represented the destination’s airline partner. Private sector representation was provided by The Golden Lemon Inn & Villas, St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Ottley’s Plantation Inn, Ocean Terrace Inn, Rawlins Plantation Inn, Timothy Beach Resort, Delisle Walwyn & Co. and Sky Safari’s St. Kitts ziplining tours.
