South Florida Based Charity For Jamaica Inc. to Benefit Foster Care Children at Listen to the Call Fundraiser Event
SOUTH FLORIDA – South Florida based charity, For Jamaica Inc. is teaming up with Bags N’ Stuff Inc. for its 9th annual fundraising concert and dinner, Listen to the Call. The event will take place Saturday, March 7 at 6 p.m. at the historic Stranahan House/Laura Ward Park (335 Southeast 6th Ave) in downtown Ft. Lauderdale.
Multiple artists will be donating their time and talent to benefit foster children of Palm Beach, Broward, and Miami-Dade counties as well as children in Jamaican orphanages. Musicians Dave Eggar with his group Deoro: Ariel de la Portilla and Chuck Palmer, special guest Dina Fanai, James Luk and martial arts group, Arturo Tappin, Willie Stewart, Junior Jazz, 3B4Jhoy, Silverbirds and Handel Tucker, in addition to young talent Kobie Alleyne will all showcase their talent at the event.
On a mission trip, pediatric psychiatrist Dr. Stephanie Azan and her husband Raymond were challenged by then 14-year-old son Alexander to “do something” about the bedding needs of the children living in places of safety in Jamaica. For Jamaica Inc. was founded in 2009. The importance of a “good night’s rest” is often overlooked when caring after foster children—For Jamaica has set out to change that. The non-profit organization’s mission is “to provide adequate bedding—new bed frames, bunks, cribs and mattresses—for residents in orphanages and places of safety throughout Jamaica.” Since its inception, For Jamaica has served over 2,000 children in 25 orphanages.
Adam Azan founded Bags N’ Stuff Inc. in 2010. On average per year, the organization provides 200 duffel bags filled with essential supplies to children in foster care throughout the tri-county area. Bags N’ Stuff’s mission is to discontinue the “marginalization of youth that have already suffered unimaginable abuse.”
Miss Universe Kaci Fennell has “listened to the call” and will attend this year’s event! Galavant Jewelry will also be providing one of a kind word cuffs to benefit the mission. Its first year held in a public venue, Listen to the Call seeks to increase outreach for both For Jamaica and Bags N’ Stuff. Tickets are being sold for $100. Come out and support the mission for a night of art, entertainment and great food!
