Savour the Taste of the Caribbean In Miami

MIAMI Each year, top chefs from all over the Caribbean travel to the Hyatt Regency Miami to participate in Taste of the Caribbean, a culinary tour de force where they battle for the chance to be crowned the best in the region.

The public has two limited opportunities to enjoy access to Taste of the Caribbean, this exclusive industry event: the Caribbean Culinary Team Lunch and Dinner Challenges on Wednesday, June 8, 2016, and the Taste of the Islands festival on Thursday, June 9, 2016.

A total of 13 competing Caribbean teams which, having competed at the national level, travel to Miami to represent their islands in a Taste of the Caribbean battle to be named the best in the region.

Teams are composed of two senior chefs, one junior chef, one bartender, one pastry chef and one manager. Participating teams include Anguilla, Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, Curacao, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Martin, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Taste of the Caribbean Lunch and Dinner Challenges

On June 8, 2016, Miami locals have a crucial role to play in the Caribbean’s foremost culinary competition as diners. For both lunch and dinner, guests will delight in wine-paired, three-course meals designed by elite teams of gastronomic professionals.

Lunch will be served from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. by teams from Bahamas, Barbados, Bonaire, Jamaica, Suriname and Turks and Caicos. Dinner, taking place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., will be prepared by teams from Anguilla, Curacao, Puerto Rico, St. Lucia, St. Maarten / St. Martin, Trinidad and Tobago and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

TASTE OF THE ISLANDS

The Taste of the Islands festival welcomes the Miami community to celebrate and sample the finest in traditional Caribbean dishes, cocktails, and craft brews for a one-night, palette-led tour of the region on June 9, 2016, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

All 13 teams will bring the heat to Taste of the Islands, each preparing savory and sweet dishes along with a signature cocktail to represent the flavors of home. In addition to the 26+ dishes served on-site, guests will also ravel in the cultural offerings of all participating islands through Caribbean music and performances as well as presentations by the tourism board of each destination. For those looking to visit the Caribbean, this is the perfect opportunity to sample sights, sounds and tastes of the islands – all in one night!
