Reggae Superstar, Buju Banton case ends in mistrial
TAMPA – Reggae Superstar, Buju Banton case ended today, Sept. 27th in a mistrial.
U.S. District Judge James Moody declared a mistrial after the 12-person jury sent him a second note on Monday saying they couldn’t reach a verdict. They had been deliberating since Thursday afternoon after a four-day trial.
Buju was accused of conspiring to buy cocaine from an undercover police officer last year and has been held without bond since his December arrest in South Florida.

Throughout the trail, Banton maintained his innocence and his defense Attorney stated he was set up by a government informant.
Banton’s attorney has asked Moody to release Banton on bond.
A new trial will begin in December 2010.
