BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – The Queen Victoria, the second largest in the Cunard fleet, made its maiden visit to St. Kitts on Saturday, Dec. 20. The Queen Victoria will be one of two ships berth at Port Zante.
The 90,000 tonne Queen Victoria, which has a capacity of 2014 passengers and 900 crew members, will dock at Port Zante, on another leg of its 22-day Caribbean Holiday Cruise.
The Queen Victoria began its Caribbean Holiday Cruise in Southampton, England on December 11th and will spend a total of 13 days at sea, while visiting Ponta Delgada in the Azores, Antigua, St. Lucia, Grenada, Barbados, Madeira and Vigo in Spain before returning to Southampton, England on January 2nd 2009.
Cunard’s sister Ships, the Queen Mary 2 and QE2 have visited St. Kitts on previous occasions.
The ship has been named in honour of Britain’s Queen Victoria and passengers disembarking will see a monument “dedicated to her memory by the people of St. Kitts in A.D. 1902,” which is engraved on the memorial at the round-a-bout at Baker’s Corner.

Its original home was at the round-a-bout near the Cardin Home but was relocated to its present site in the late 1960’s.</p>
<p>The Carnival Victory with a capacity of 3,473 passengers also berth on Saturday.</p>
