Author of ‘Cyber Safe’ Sheds Light on Children’s Online Activities
MIAMI – One of the most sought after pediatricians and authors today by health journalists and bloggers, Dr. Gwenn Schurgin O’Keeffe, will bring her online and social media expertise to parents and caregivers during a one-hour program called “Protecting and Empowering Kids in the Digital World of Texting, Gaming and Social” at Miami Children’s Hospital (Classroom A&B 3100 SW 62 Avenue, Miami)on January 27 from 7 pm to 8 pm.

Dr. Schurgin O’Keeffe will provide the tools parents need to help their child navigate the digital world with insight and intelligence. This program will help parents understand cyber bullying, social networking sites, online safety, gaming and virtual worlds, and parental control systems that allow parents to monitor their children’s’ online activities.
Gwenn Schurgin O’Keeffe, MD, FAAP is a practicing pediatrician, health journalist and CEO of Pediatrics Now, an online health and communications company. She is a fellow and national spokeswoman of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and an executive committee member of the AAP’s Council of Communications and Media and was the lead author of the council’s social media and texting tips.
