Miss Jamaica Florida Set to Celebrate the Arts

FT. LAUDERDALE – The Miss Jamaica Florida Pageant is set to toast its 21st year with a Celebration of the Arts though music, dance, theatre and cinema on June 27, 2010 at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts in Coral Springs, FL

Contestants ages 5- 21, will compete in four age categories (Little Miss, Junior Miss, Miss Teen, and Miss) for a coveted title at a Coronation Ceremony on the evening of Sunday, June 27, 2010. More than 25 young ladies will showcase their talents through a creative expression which venerate music, dance, theatre and cinema, followed by a question and answer segment during a live interview on the evening of the Coronation.

The Pageant was started in 1990 by the late Anthony Baker and has since been sustained by Macia Rigg-Baker and the Board of Directors for The Partners for Youth Foundation, a charitable, non-profit organization. This pageant is the annual fundraiser for The Partners for Youth Foundation. The Foundation is committed to the enhancement of children internationally, and recognition of young women in the area of the Performing Arts in the tri-counties of Broward, Dade and Palm Beach by offering scholarships to students enrolled in a US tertiary institution majoring in Theater or Music.

The crowned Ambassadors will receive a four-day all expenses paid trip to Jamaica, where they will meet with government officials and participate in humanitarian projects adopted by the Partners for Youth Foundation. The trip will also include visits to famous tourist attractions and national landmarks across the island.

The Miss Jamaica Florida Pageant is a great experience for young women of Jamaican descent, who are residents in South Florida to become involved in their community through networking opportunities, local cultural activities, and educational and charitable programs. The contestants will become empowered through leadership and social interaction skills to increase their self-development.
