Cultural and Performing Arts Veteran, Stephen Kantrowitz Takes the Leading Role as Director of the Miramar Cultural Center / ArtsPark
MIRAMAR – Miramar Cultural Center has selected Stephen Kantrowitz a nationally-recognized cultural and performing arts veteran as it’s new Director. He has over 30 years’ experience as an arts programmer, producer, presenter, director and musician, with over 1000 professional credits on New York, Regional and International stages.
“Stephen’s vast knowledge, strong industry acumen and diverse experience coupled with his innumerous successes as an Arts administrator in the cultural and performing arts arena, perfectly position him to lead this cast of marketing, sales, education and theater professionals at the Miramar Cultural Center to new heights of performance”, says Kathleen Gunn, Assistant City Manager, City of Miramar. “We are very excited to have Stephen join our Executive team to serve our very diverse and astute community in a highly relevant and resonant manner, Gunn continues.
As an Executive Director/Producer, he has produced, presented and administered over 250 AEA productions and presentations including Funny Girl starring Tony Award-winner Debbie Gravitte (Jerome Robbins’ Broadway) and Burke Moses (original Gaston in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast) and Show Boat starring Tony Award-nominees Robert Cuccioli (Jekyll and Hyde) and Phillip Boykin (The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess), and Broadway favorite Gay Willis.
At the 1334-seat UCPAC in NJ, he recently wrote, produced and directed the World Premiere of the National Touring Concert Attraction, The Phantoms…Unmasked! starring three of Broadway’s most-phantastic Phantoms. At the Bickford Theatre at the Morris Museum, he produced and directed the five highest grossing fundraisers in the theatre’s history, working with such artists as American Idol finalist Constantine Maroulis (Tony Award-nominee, Rock of Ages), Tony and Grammy Award nominee Phillip Boykin, Tony Award-nominee Howard McGillin, and Les Miserables star J. Mark McVey.
He has worked at many of the country’s greatest venues alongside such luminaries as Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Boyz II Men, Clint Black, Dionne Warwick, Blood, Sweat & Tears with American Idol’s Bo Bice, Engelbert Humperdinck, Kenny Rogers, Joan Rivers, Paula Poundstone, Wanda Sykes, Wayne Newton, Tony Award-winner Larry Hochman (The Book of Mormon), New York Times best-selling suspense writer Harlan Coben, singing superstars Julie Budd and Lainie Kazan, Three Mo’ Tenors, Beatlemania, The Capitol Steps, Robert Klein, Steve Solomon, Tony and Emmy Award-nominee Tovah Feldshuh (The Walking Dead), Academy Award-winners Olympia Dukakis Jose Ferrer and
Dustin Hoffman.
