Miami Heat joins Commissioner Edmonson for Caribbean Hurricane Relief effort
MIAMI – Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson and the Miami Heat joined forces on Sunday, October 5 at the team’s first pre-season game at American Airlines Arena to collect goods for Caribbean nations severely affected by devastating storms this hurricane season.
Fans who attended were encouraged to donate non-perishable food, water, and clothing to benefit storm victims. Pictured are Commissioner Edmonson (center), joined by her staff, the Heat Dancers, and volunteers from the Miami-Dade County Community Relations Board and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue.
The County’s Caribbean Hurricane Relief Drive will continue until October 17, and collected items will be shipped to various countries in dire need of supplies, including Haiti, the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands.
