Caribbean-American organization presents its First Annual Fundraising Dinner to help Caribbean-American college students

FORT LAUDERDALE – The W.H.I.Z. Scholastic Foundation, a South Florida based Caribbean-American organization was formed to help students of Caribbean Heritage to complete their education by providing financial assistance on a needs basis.

The Foundation is committed to ensuring the education of all students and will provide assistance to bright, talented, high-achieving individuals who demonstrate strong academic performance, dedicated community service and a need for financial assistance.

Each year the W.H.I.Z. Scholastic Foundation offers a special scholarship in honor and in memory of Mr. Lutchman ‘Bob’ Mahabir, founder of Whiz Communications Network.

This prestigious scholarship will be offered to a student pursuing a course in Communications or Journalism. Additional scholarships will be awarded, as well as assistance given to other students in the form of a full scholarship, tuition for a term or a semester, book scholarships, gas cards, bus passes or gift certificates for groceries.

According to W.H.I.Z.’s Marketing Director, “We believe that students have who have displayed a high level of Wisdom (intelligence), Honor (respect), Integrity (honesty) and Zeal (passion) should have the assistance they need to achieve their academic goal”. “Our research has indicated that many of the Caribbean students studying here are at risk of losing their place in college because of lack of funds. In one college as many as 60% of the International students are in danger of being sent home. We must help these students. Your consideration is very crucial. We are in a position to shape and mold these young people. By helping to pay their way through college we will ensure that they are prepared to face the future and position themselves in leadership roles. Do not allow them to fall by the wayside. Let us help them to stand tall”.
