Lauderdale Lakes Official Vies for National Leadership Award

Lauderdale Lakes – Caribbean-American Lauderdale Lakes City Commissioner Hazelle P. Rogers was selected as a finalist for a new leadership award from Women in Municipal Government (WIMG). The finalists will be honored and the first-ever winner announced at the group’s national meeting being held in Charlotte, N. C. this Friday, December 9.

WIMG, a constituency group of the National League of Cities (NLC), launched this new program to showcase and honor the achievements of women in local leadership roles. Female elected officials from NLC-affiliated municipalities were eligible for nomination. This year, six finalists were selected by a national panel of judges.

“It is an honor to be among this esteemed group of women who are achieving great things on behalf of their communities,” said Rogers. “We strive to lead by setting a positive example and letting the work that we do speak for us.” Rogers is the immediate past president of the Broward League of Cities.

The National League of Cities is the oldest and largest professional organization of American cities, and serves as a resource and advocate for 18,000 cities, towns and villages, which collectively serve 225 million people. Its mission is to strengthen municipalities as centers of opportunity, leadership and governance.
