SCARBOROUGH, Tobago – Get ready to sing and dance the night away during Tobago’s third annual Jazz Experience featuring legendary jazz musicians Joe Sample and Randy Crawford and R&B sensation, Trey Songz. Hosted by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), this music and cultural showcase scheduled for April 23 through May 1,
2011, includes an eclectic mix of local, regional and international artists performing at various events throughout the island.
Jazz in the East gets things started in the village of Speyside on Saturday, April 23 at 4:00 p.m. This event features Ruth Osman, a jazz
traditionalist and showcases various music styles such as soca and reggae. On Sunday, April 24 at 4:00 p.m. Hillside Jazz, the newest addition to the event’s menu, takes place at Signal Hill Recreational Ground. In addition to highlighting some of Tobago’s premier performers, those attending the festival will also get a chance to experience Sunday School, Tobago’s best street party, filled with music, culture, food and
fun for the whole family at Buccoo.
On Monday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 26, it’s off to the Goat races where patrons will get a rare glimpse at the art of Tobagonian goat
racing. A celebration in itself, this two-day event is a “must-see” experience for visitors. On Wednesday, April 27 at 6:00 p.m. jazz enthusiasts can enjoy Jazz on the Waterfront. Held at the Scarborough Esplanade, the event features a variety of musical acts and is designed to give patrons a New Orleans inspired jazz experience with a performance lineup that includes Lynette Louis and Marcus Steele.
The party continues with World Music Night at Pigeon Point Heritage Park on Thursday, April 28 at 7:30 PM. With headlining international
superstar, Trey Songz, this event features a variety of genres from an array of artists, all under the beautiful Tobagonian night sky. For a
night of Pan and Jazz, courtesy of Pantrinbago, pan-lovers can head to the Pigeon Point Heritage Park on Friday, April 29.
Joe Sample and Randy Crawford help close out the Tobago Jazz Experience on Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1 at the Beach Jazz Fiesta. Beginning at 4:00 p.m. at Pigeon Point, true jazz-lovers are invited to come, relax and take in the musical stylings from traditional and contemporary jazz artists.
