WASHINGTON, DC – Diplomatic Language Services (DLS), a 25-year old company based in the Washington, DC metro area that provides language and cultural training and other related language services to US government and commercial clients. They currently have openings for qualified linguists in Haitian-Creole, and Jamaican Patois. Candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents in order to apply.
Translators will provide one or more of the following support services:
• Monitor foreign language communications and perform verbal and/or written summaries into English
• Translate target language documents into English
• Transcribe target language communications into written English
• Translate orally either consecutively or simultaneously from target language to English and vice versa
• Review translation, transcription, or other performed by another individual for quality control purposes
Required Qualifications
• US Citizenship or Permanent Residency
• Must have lived in the United States for 3 of the last 5 years
• At least 1 year of experience in monitoring, translation or related field
• Ability to pass a proficiency test in the target language(s) and English
• Ability to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree
