SOUTH FLORIDA – It is most heartening to see Jamaicans taking the time out of their celebrations of victory in the world championships in Beijing to offer prayers for the suffering of the people of Dominica. It is of significance for the feat of the Jamaicans in China is not insignificant.
As I watched the closing television video montage Sunday (Aug. 30) I concluded there is not much to say except that I am offering the most fervent prayers my puny heart and soul can muster that this people called Jamaicans will, after the celebrations, take the time to understand, to comprehend that God Almighty Himself, no apologies non-believers, has blessed this people in a special way, and Jamaicans owe generations past and those un-born, to show ourselves worthy of the incredible achievements this band of people have arrived at.
From those who prepared the fields across Jamaica, and picked up after the athletes and the crowds, to those who you never see even in group shots, because they are busy making these finishes possible.
Jamaicans rise up like the mighty people you are, and as the memorable song, “Make Some Good Action”! Our children are going to call us out sooner than later, if we continue to “gaze”!
