Former South Florida Mayor calls on Lincoln Diaz-Balart to sponsor and support the Jubilee Act as well as House Resolution 241

HIALEAH – Message from Raul Martinez – Former Mayor of Hialeah:

As the Former Mayor of Hialeah, I was fortunate enough to travel throughout various countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. My travels took me to countries such as Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and Colombia to name a few.

While visiting these countries, I was fortunate enough to meet with the leaders of these nations and the people they represent. People that are incredibly wealthy in culture and values, but often face grim economic circumstances.

Many of the hardships faced by some of our closest neighbors are due to the massive economic burden cause by irresponsible lending and insurmountable foreign debt. That is why I support the Jubilee Act for Responsible Lending and Expanded Debt Cancellation of 2008 as well as H.R. 241 and call on Lincoln Diaz-Balart to do the same.

Lincoln Diaz-Balart trumpets himself as a defender of democracy and democratic institutions, yet he is not willing to sponsor or support the Jubilee Act or House Resolution 241 that provides relief to the people of Haiti, one of the oldest Democracies on this side of the planet.
