Congresswoman Frederica Wilson Hosts Congressional Update On Sequestration, Immigration, Jobs and Discusses Impact On South Florida

SOUTH FLORIDA – — Congresswoman Frederica S. Wilson (FL-24) will host a Congressional update on sequestration, immigration, jobs and more at 7:00p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013, at 93rd Street Community Baptist Church, located at 2330 NW 93rd Street, Miami, Florida 33147.

Congresswoman Wilson will be joined by panelists, Joy-Ann Reid, managing editor, The Grio.Com, political columnist and contributor, MSNBC; Andy Madtes, president, South Florida AFL-CIO; Jose Gabilondo, associate professor, College of Law Florida International University; and Fred Frost, the director of governmental affairs, South Florida Jobs with Justice.

“I want to ensure that South Floridians fully understand these issues, their impact on our community and the challenges we face. Harmful federal budget cuts- known as sequestration – have resulted in the loss of jobs and threaten thousands more. Economic growth has been stymied and vital services many people depend on, especially children, seniors and the poor, have been drastically cut. Our economy and more families will suffer if Congress does not act now to pass a balanced budget, reform immigration and create jobs.”
