SOUTH FLORIDA – A look at the beheading of a number of Libyans only a matter of days ago, has brought pangs of horror to the heart and minds of good and decent people around the world. It is also significant that Americans have also been horrified. But are Americans being hypocritical or merely forgetting their own history?

As time goes, it is but a short throwback in the history of this country to that place where the brutal murders of black folk was just as horrific and some cases worse. The bodies of black folk were dismembered with fingers given out as souvenirs, and after the bodies were further mutilated, they were thrown in fires and burnt.

And no, it does not end there. These grotesque and inhumane events were both promoted and attended as if they were circuses of carnivals which were attended by white folk, sometimes dressed in their Sunday best.

Recently there have been accounts of whites who would go hunting to kill black individuals because, as they saying went, ‘they just a “n-word”, so ain’t nothing wrong.’

It is most instructive, therefore, to view the barbarity of the Islamic state adherents and killers through the historic prism of white American history in these United States. To do otherwise, to disregard that history and only serves to bring more scorn and more disrespect from this latter-day manifestation of evil we call terrorists.
