Caribbean-American Fashion Designers Launch Product Lines

PEMBROKE PINES – More than 50 guests attended the September 26th, VIP meet and mingle reception for the launch of four highly anticipated labels: Shuga Fix, Circa24, Yardie Talk, and 876Lingo, the products of three Jamaican-born but South Florida-bred residents – Asanyah Davidson, Margaret Holness-Harris and Debbie Rowe-Millwood.

Shuga Fix, the addictive gourmet pastry by Rowe-Millwood; Circa24, a collection of T-shirts, tube tops and dresses by fashion designer Davidson, 876 Lingo a home décor collection of throw pillows and Yardie Talk, an inventive crocus bag collection of handbags, co-designed by Holness-Harris and Davidson.

Rowe-Millwood is a local attorney who has turned her inner passion for all things sweet, into a growing business. Guests nibbled on delicate morsels of oatmeal raisin and chocolate cookies and chocolate brownies. The treats, says Rowe Millwood, are a perfect gift for any occasion.

Packages can be shipped to any location. Prices start at $10.

Fashion designer Davidson’s clothing line pays homage to her Jamaican ancestry in particular, her grandma Vin, born in 1924 hence the name Circa24.

The collection is for the trendy/edgy urbanite who is proud to show their love of Jamaica via the use of images and colors reminiscent of the island A fashion show is planned to showcase the fill collection in January.

Davidson and Holness-Harris teamed up to produce the Rocus Bag collection – a handbag collection that boldly uses burlap or “crocus bag” as it’s affectionately dubbed by Jamaicans, as its main fabric. The bags come in a variety of bright colors and in varying sizes- from the large tote to the evening clutch, even a laptop case.
Holness-Harris’s collection of throw pillows, placemats and table runners with Jamaican lingo like “Walk Good” and “You Lie” were conversation hit at the reception:

Feedback on the Home Decor line “was extra-ordinarily good,’’ said Davidson.” “Everyone is excited to see what comes next. We had non-Jamaicans and Jamaicans alike tickled pink at having the colorful pillows become a conversation piece in their homes.”

The Rocus bag collection s will be sold through both the Circa24 site as well as the YardieTalk site which will be up by the end of October. Until then interested parties can contact both Margaret and or Davidson at [email protected] and [email protected].
