Caribbean-American based organization in South Florida, TATI, Inc. to give-away dresses in Belize

FT. LAUDERDALE – A South Florida based Caribbean-American organization, Transforming America Through Interaction (“TATI”) Inc. wwill be giving away formal gowns and cocktail-length dresses to high school students who will be graduating this year in Belize.

Every year, TATI, Inc. donates formal dresses to a Caribbean destination, to qualifying high schools and their deserving students. The dresses enable qualifying young ladies who exhibit excellent character traits and scholastic aptitude to attend a previously unattainable event, their graduation ball (prom).

Last year TATI, Inc. received 72 dresses donated by Tatiana’s Bridal, Prom and Quinceanera in Margate, Florida, which were donated to several high schools in Jamaica. This year, TATI, Inc. is collecting formal dresses and formal ladies shoes from the community at large, for donation to high schools in Belize. Becca’s Closet has come on board, and has already donated a carton of formal ladies shoes.

“Recently, Belize has been hit hard with several disasters: hurricanes, flash floods, and of course the decline in the economy which faces not only America but even more so, third world countries,” says Gilda Swasey, TATI, Inc. Board Member and Belizean. “There are young people, especially in the rural areas (of Belize) that will never experience going to their prom because of hardship on the family. We want to make a difference by giving some this opportunity. In the Belizean community in South Florida our motto is ‘Belizeans are here and we care’.”

“Last year we were fortunate enough to have received so many beautiful dresses from Angela Baker-Brown of Tatiana’s Bridal,” says Tanya Ragbeer, President of TATI, Inc. “Angela has just recently passed away under sudden circumstances. We are sadly impacted by her passing, and for this, we are dedicating the cause in Angela’s name.”
