Barbados Tourism Minister Heads Team to Trade Fair
BARDADOS – A three-man delegation led by Barbados Minister of Tourism, Richard Sealy, will attend the International Tourism Bourse (ITB), in Berlin, Germany, from March 5 to 7 and the Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention in Miami, from March 10 to 13.
Other members of the delegation are Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism, Andrew Cox and President and Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Tourism Authority, Stuart Layne.
The ITB is regarded as one of two premier international tourism trade fairs in which Barbados participates yearly; the other is the World Travel Market in London.
While attending the ITB, Minister Sealy will familiarize himself with the Continental Europe Tourism Market and also meet a number of key players who are of particular importance to Barbados.
According to a tourism official, “The ITB is regarded throughout the world as a leading business-to-business trade platform for global tourism; it provides an essential forum for the exchange of ideas among industry practitioners, and the display of products from every sector of the tourism industry”.
Seatrade Convention
The March 10 to 13 Seatrade Cruise Shipping Convention seeks to bring together all of the important players in the cruise business that are beneficial to the Caribbean.
The main objective of Barbados’ participation in that Convention is to identify and develop key partners in the cruise industry, showcase Barbados as a destination of choice, as well as create significant awareness of Barbados as a cruise destination.
