Agencies Partner To Increase Trade & Investment Between the U.S. and Jamaica

JAMPRO and AMCHAM partner to increase trade and investment between the USA and Jamaica

Kingston, Jamaica– Jamaica’s trade and investment agency JAMPRO has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) Jamaica to increase and strengthen trade and investment links between the USA and Jamaica. The MOU commenced in June 2016.

The MOU strengthens the collaboration between the two agencies, which have partnered on various initiatives to promote business between Jamaica and the United States for many years. The agreement guarantees support to trade and investment initiatives within Jamaica and the USA, the dissemination of trade and investment information to the public, and the provision of all possible assistance in regard to visiting trade missions to Jamaica.

The organisations also agreed to create industry business matchmaking opportunities, and assisting with investment promotion seminars or trade exhibitions including the facilitation of investors and businesspersons in pursuit of joint ventures.

President of AMCHAM Jamaica, Ron McKay noted, “The partnership agreement with JAMPRO is timely as both organisations are poised to further strengthen their drive to increase foreign direct investment in Jamaica. AMCHAM Jamaica has international connections across the Hemispheres with over 116 AmChams, including the US Chamber of Commerce. Through these connections, we have leveraged business opportunities across the region, while facilitating trade and investment in Jamaica.  AMCHAM members will be exposed to more opportunities that will grow their businesses and impact employment positively.”

President of JAMPRO, Diane Edwards emphasised that the MOU was a working plan for cooperation between JAMPRO and AMCHAM, she explained, “This partnership is all about getting work done on the ground to increase investments into Jamaica and exports of our products. We have activities that we have planned to undertake until March 2017 to boost business between our two countries.”

JAMPRO looks forward to working with AMCHAM Jamaica to increase business opportunties between Jamaica and the USA. JAMPRO is an Agency of the Ministry of Economic Growth and Wealth Creation.
