African-American Travel Group Proves They Have Spirit At Miami Takeover 2015

Washington D.C.’s Renowned Go Go Bands Black Passion, JunkYard Band and Vybe Band Lend Their Musical Talents to Miami Takeover 2015

MIAMI – The 2015 Miami Takeover Experience (MTO) ended their signature week of events the same way they kicked it off; with a community service activity. The Miami Beach Convention Center, a venue partner, was the backdrop this past Sunday as they closed out their 8th year in Miami with a beach clean-up on a portion of sunny Miami Beach.

This year, the MTO organization received a Certificate of Appreciation from Miami Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez and county commissioners along with a Proclamation from Commissioner Keon Hardemon (City of Miami, District 5) for their dental clinic they held at Overtown Youth Center(OYC) with Colgate-Palmolive.

Attracting over 2000 people to their events which included a comedy showcase, All-White Affair, and beach parties, MTO brought in over 300 African-American professionals from Washington DC, ranging from ages 25-45 this year. MTO creators, Wylie Kynard (WK&F Group) and Antwoine McCoy, Chuck Reese, Vince Peden II (VP Productions Travel, LLC), all hail from the DC area. Eight years ago, the group organically created a platform that included networking, parties and community involvement for urban professionals to participate in. Today, MTO boasts a well organized travel designation and lifestyle brand.

“We are extremely grateful for the success of this year’s events. The highlight of our weekend was truly spending time with the kids at OYC while they did their dental screenings. We look forward to next year’s continued MTO programing of quality entertainment events and community give back programs,” states Wylie Kynard, MTO Co-Founder.

Miami Take Over (2)The MTO Experience shares some of the talented musical heavyweights from Washington, DC. The area’s popular Go Go music style was celebrated during the weekend with appearances by: Black Passion, JunkYard Band and VYBE band. Go Go music is a funky sound infused with Hip-Hop and R&B and remains primarily popular in the Washington, DC area as one of its own regional music genre.

The MTO Experience defies the perception that African-American young adults do not give back to their communities. Not only does the group do so in their perspective home cities but have also created an opportunity for other like-minded professionals to participate in community initiatives while on vacation.
