A New ‘Renaissance’ Dawns on the Caribbean: The Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino Debuts

CURACAO – The 237-room Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino (www.renaissancecuracao.com) has officially opened. This is the newest full-service, branded resort to open on the Caribbean island of Curacao in more than 15 years. The property is located on Willemstad’s picturesque historic waterfront and connected to the legendary Rif Fort, a 19th century landmark and UNESCO World Heritage site.

To celebrate the opening of the resort, vacationers can save 40 percent off regular room rates by booking the resort’s special $199 premier rate and be among the first to experience the resort. The rate is valid now through April 15, 2009 and is based on availability; taxes are not included.

The resort blends contemporary Caribbean style and traditional European design, evoking the colorful architecture that can be found throughout Curacao, one of the largest islands located in the Dutch Lesser Antilles.

Beach lovers will enjoy the resort’s signature white sand “Eternity Beach” – a marvel of modern maritime engineering and the only one in the world. The beach, which sits above sea level, is located adjacent to the resort’s freshwater infinity pool, both offering spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea.

All guestrooms offer complimentary bathrobes and are equipped with mini-refrigerators, coffee and tea makers, high-speed Internet, flat-screen televisions, in-room safes, iron and ironing boards and hairdryers. The resort features 14 spacious suites including two, one-bedroom Majestic Suites. These large corner suites are located on the top floor and offer spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, the historic stately bridge, the ‘Swinging Old Lady’ and ‘Handelskade,’ Willemstad’s famed harbor front street lined with brightly painted 18th century buildings. The Majestic Suites feature a lounge area with flat screen television, a reading area, dining area and separate bedroom. The suites have a fully-equipped bathroom with separate shower and whirlpool bath plus a separate half-bath. On the spacious balcony guests can relax while enjoying some of the best views of the historical world heritage city.

The resort’s 15,000-square-foot Carnaval Casino captures the ambiance and energy of Carnaval with a wide variety of the latest slot machines and challenging table games.

“The Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino is truly a destination within a destination, offering nightlife, entertainment, gaming, dining and shopping all in one place,” said Maylin Trenidad, general manager of the Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino.

The Renaissance Curacao Resort & Casino will open with a wide range of restaurant and lounges throughout the resort and at the adjacent Rif Fort including: Nautilus; Express-O; Blue Bar; the Rif Fort Bar; Douwe Egberts Cafe, Indi’s Spice Bar; Steak & Ribs Restaurant; Anchor Bar & Waterfront Seafood Restaurant; the Kasbanini Bar & Restaurant and the Infinity Beach Bar, which overlooks the ocean and the infinity pool. Additional restaurants include Bistro Le Clochard, Soprano’s Piano Bar, Ema-Tei, Chihuahua Cantina, Don’s Ice Cream Shop and Le Creperie — each offering its own flavor to the resort.

The resort features an expansive fitness center with the latest strength training and cardiovascular equipment complimentary to all guests, and the soon-to-debut Aqua Spa, located within the Rif Fort, will offer invigorating treatments utilizing indigenous island ingredients.

The soon-to-open Renaissance Mall, the resort’s open-air shopping, dining and entertainment complex, will boast a six-theatre cinema, 50 upscale shops and additional restaurants, lounges and bars.

When the resort’s meeting and banquet facilities are complete next month, meeting planners will have 8,600 square feet of versatile indoor and outdoor function space at their disposal, including a ballroom, an atrium, a coffee lounge, two board rooms, a business center and more.
