MIAMI – North Shore Medical Center recently teamed up with members of their medical staff, as well as local Haitian physicians to send much-needed supplies to Haiti to help combat the recent Cholera outbreak.
Cholera, which is an acute diarrhea illness caused by infection of the intestine and is transmitted through contaminated food and water. Rehydration is a key treatment for a Cholera infection, which is why North Shore Medical Center sent hundreds of cases of IV solutions, several cases of IV supplies and hundreds of bottles of pedialite to Haiti. North Shore Medical Center physicians, Dr. Alain Innocent and Dr. Alande Brezault were instrumental in helping coordinate the donation.
“We are pleased that we were able to send these resources to Haiti,” said Manny Linares, CEO of North Shore Medical Center. “The combined efforts of North Shore, our medical staff, and our Haitian physicians to provide the people of Haiti with needed medical supplies will help ease some of the pain and suffering the people of Haiti have endured.”
Most recently, North Shore Medical Center and Saint Louis University Hospital, both Tenet Healthcare Corporation hospitals, teamed up to send medication to Haiti for a child diagnosed with Guillan Barre Syndrome.
