SOUTH FLORIDA – The Jamaica USA Chamber of Commerce (JAUSACC) will host the fourtth bi-annual Jamaican Business Expo May 20-21, 2011 at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Dania, Florida.
The action packed two-day event will commence with the sixth annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, May 20, 2011, followed by the launch of the Business Expo.
This year, three JAUSACC Milestone Awards will be presented to Mrs. Norma Darby and The Jamaica Folk Revue “Arts & Culture Award”; the Jamaica Tourist Board, “Hospitality Award”; and Mr. Danny Vargas, SeaFreight Agencies, USA, “International Trade Award”.
Guest speaker at the Luncheon will be Mr. Joseph M. Matalon, C.D., President of The Private Sector Organization of Jamaica, (PSOJ).
The following day (Saturday, May 21) the Chamber will continue its schedule of activities with a Trade Forum Breakfast and a Real Estate Workshop. JAUSACC is bringing an inbound trade delegation from Jamaica to share their goods and services with the South Florida community under the auspices of Jamaica Promotions Corporation (JAMPRO). Local business will also participate in the two-day Expo.
This Business Expo is yet another opportunity that JAUSACC is bringing to the South Florida community in an effort to link business from Jamaica with local Jamaican and non-Jamaican businesses, and to give everyone who attends the opportunity to network and find new markets for their goods and services.
The Trade Forum Breakfast features a panel presentation on “Opportunities for Trade and Investment in Jamaica.” The panelists will include representatives from the National Land Agency from Jamaica (NLA), Jamaica Promotions (JAMPRO), Enterprise Florida and LaParkan Shipping.
The afternoon program will feature a real estate workshop to provide information on “Purchasing a home and mortgage financing in Jamaica; foreclosures, short sales and modifications in Florida.” Panelists will include representatives from the Caribbean Bar Association (CBA), Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS), Strategic Debt Solutions, Crichton Mullings & Associates, and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Registration is required for the Luncheon, Trade Forum Breakfast and the Real Estate Workshop.
The two–day Expo is free and open to the public.
