Melton Mustafa

The highly-anticipated festival bears its name from internationally-known Miami-based trumpeter Melton Mustafa, who leads the Melton Mustafa Orchestra and directs Florida Memorial University’s Jazz Studies Program. He promises that this year’s intimate setting, along with the artistic and promising performers, will “blow everyone away.”

The theme “It’s All Pure Jazz” promotes the recruitment initiative for the University’s fully-accredited music program. “For the past three years, the concert has been held off campus,” stated Mr. Mustafa. “Now we’ve decided to bring it back to the University so people can really see what we’re all about here at Florida Memorial,” he added.

“It’s All Pure Jazz” also heralds talented and emerging musicians. “We will have the legendary Charles Tolliver who is so intense,” stated Mr. Mustafa. “We also have an exciting group coming out of New York, and the most exciting collegiate bands from Broward College, Michael Krop High, Dillard Performing Arts, and the best of all Florida Memorial University,” he continued. He later spoke about his brother, Jesse Jones Jr., and assured that Jones will bring his renowned group.

Tickets can be purchased from the Florida Memorial University Music Department or from the theater the night of the show. All proceeds from the concert will benefit the University’s Jazz Studies Program.
