Workshop teaches Fundraising, Grant Development and Marketing for Community Based Organizations

MIAMI – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez will host a workshop for community based organizations to assist in their fundraising, grant development and marketing efforts.

The Mayor’s Workshop for Community Based Organizations will be held at the West Dade Regional Library, 9445 Coral Way, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4. The workshop is free for community based organization representatives on a first-come, first-serve basis and pre-registration is required.

Experts will provide strategies and tips on grant development including how to search for grants, grant writing tips, grant management, building collaborations and partnerships, and how to evaluate program effectiveness; on fundraising including the social entrepreneurship model, using effective performance management tools, and a foundation model; and on marketing and the importance of creating an effective marketing plan, including using branding, communications, and community and public relations. Following the panel discussions, the experts will be available for questions.

The Mayor’s Community Based Organizations Workshop is possible through presenting sponsor and corporate partner Bank of America, as well as the Alliance for Human Services and Center on Nonprofit Effectiveness.
