Western Union recognizes the Caribbean Cash Grand Prize winner with a $25,000 check

PEMBROKE PINES – Western Union’s lucky Grand Prize winner of the Caribbean Cash Giveaway promotion, Patren Daniel Mattadeen was recognized today, April 15th in South Florida. Patren Daniel Mattadeen, a resident of North Miami was selected for a prize at random from thousands of consumers sending qualifying money transfers to the Caribbean between October 15 and December 31, 2007. In addition to the $25,000 Grand Prize winner, Western Union also rewarded 78 lucky consumers with one daily $500 cash prize each.

“My initial reaction was I can’t believe it,” said Mr. Mattadeen, as he recalled the conversation with the Western Union representative who informed him of the good news. “I thought it was a trick and someone making a prank. I was thrilled when I learned I really had won $25,000, it was my luck day! I’m so glad I used Western Union to send the money to my girlfriend who was having car trouble in Jamaica.

Patren was congratulated by Daniel Canning, Western Union Marketing director at a special celebratory event in his honor held today, (April 15) at the Tropical Oasis Restaurant in Pembroke Pines where he was presented with a $25,000 check from Western Union. When asked what he plans to do the $25,000, Mr. Mattadeen answered, “I plan to use the money to go back to school”. Mr. Mattadeen will also be honored at a second celebration later this week in New York.
