Wager set for Miami-Dade County vs. City of Dallas regarding NBA Finals

MIAMI – Before the start of Game 5 of the NBA Finals between the Miami HEAT and Dallas Mavericks, officials from Miami-Dade County and the City of Dallas have decided to make the outcome of the Finals a little more interesting with a friendly wager. After some discussion between the offices of Miami-Dade Chairman Joe A. Martinez and City of Dallas Mayor Dwaine R. Caraway, the bet has been set.

When the HEAT win the Finals, Mayor Caraway will be sending Chairman Martinez a care package of barbecue from the world-famous Eddie Dean’s Restaurant, a Quatros Leche cake from La Duni Latin Bakery, and a silver Dallas belt buckle. The buckle is part of Mayor Caraway’s “Pull ‘Em Up Campaign,” which encourages young men to present themselves in an appropriate fashion by avoiding saggy pants. The Mayor would also perform a community service project wearing a Miami HEAT jersey.

Likewise, Chairman Martinez has promised to complete a community service project in a Mavericks jersey should the outcome not be so favorable for the HEAT. In addition, he has promised to send Mayor Caraway a special package with Miami staples – Joe’s Stone Crab, hand-rolled cigars from Cuban Crafters, and Cuban pastries.

“I thank Mayor Caraway for his graciousness in accepting the bet, but I hope he likes wearing red and black,” said Chairman Martinez.
