VMBS Receives Jamaica Independence Proclamation from the City of Miami

MIAMI GARDENS – Mrs Sandra Grant Griffiths, Consul General of Jamaica took pleasure in presenting a Proclamation to Ms. Suzette Rochester, Manager, Victoria Mutual Building Society (VMBS) – Florida Representative Office, as part of the celebration of Jamaica’s 50th Independence Celebrations on behalf of the City of Miami.

The special visit by the Consul General at the Representative Office came on the heels of the recently held Launch of Jamaica’s 50th Independence Anniversary Celebration Activities, where VMBS was the title sponsor.

The Independence Celebration is being spearheaded by the Office of the Consul General and one item of note is a Grand Gala slated in August 2012 for the Jamaican Diaspora and friends of the Diaspora.

According to Rochester, “the involvement of VMBS in the Independence Celebration is very timely as the Society has been assisting many Jamaican’s at home and abroad in achieving their financial independence by providing saving and mortgage opportunities in Jamaica since 1878”.
