TurboVote makes voting easy as ordering a DVD from NetFlix

MIAMI – Recently launched in South Florida, courtesy of funding from The Knight Foundation, TurboVote is a service provided by Democracy Works, Inc., a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization devoted to improving civic engagement through the use of technology. Turbo Vote has also been funded by the Sunlight Foundation, Google, and many individual donors who supported the organization on Kickstarter.

TurboVote provides individuals the opportunity to sign up to register to vote, request their absentee ballot and more importantly to receive reminders via email and text to vote in all local, state and federal elections. Turbo Vote also provides an opportunity for the leadership of not-for-profit civic, cultural, and business organizations to set up their own webpage to create a program for their members to register to vote, request absentee ballots or receive notification of all upcoming elections (local, state, or federal) via email or text.

In a recent interview on WZAB 880AM Caribbean Riddims, D’ Peoples Politics, Seth Flaxman, Executive Director of Turbo Vote, noted, “Politics cannot function to its best potential without the engagement of every citizen. We endeavor to make voting as easy as being able to order a DVD from Netflix coming to you directly in the mail at the click of a button.”
