T&T Prime Minister and Uganda President hold talks at Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting (CHOGM)

UGANDA – Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, The Honourable Patrick Manning, held bilateral talks for continued cooperation in the areas of energy, education, food security and cultural exchange, with His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of Uganda, during his visit to Uganda for the 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM).

Prime Minister Manning reiterated Trinidad and Tobago’s willingness to continue its assistance in the process of Uganda’s monetization of its recently discovered oil and gas resources.

President Museveni thanked Trinidad and Tobago for its support, and indicated that monetization of Uganda’s hydrocarbon resources would yield tangible rewards to the country’s roughly 30 million citizens by 2009.

Prime Minister Manning and President Museveni were among fifty three Heads of State and Government, and approximately 7000 delegates, at CHOGM 2007 which was held in Uganda during the period November 23-25, 2007.

Trinidad and Tobago will host the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in 2009.
