KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) is offering Jamaicans living overseas an opportunity to return home to celebrate the country’s 50 years as an independent nation, with a special savings product that allows them to save for their vacation.

The Jamaica Vacation Account was officially re-launched on Wednesday, February 1. Jean Look Tong, JN Group Marketing, Sales and Promotions Executive, said the account will provide Jamaicans with the means to confidently plan ahead for their vacation, to include this special Jamaica Independence celebration.

“The nation’s Golden Jubilee will be an occasion for which Jamaicans living abroad will want to return home,” she said. “And, we are offering them a convenient way to save for the occasion.”

Mrs. Look Tong said the Jamaica Vacation Account gives members the option to start saving with a minimum of J$10,000 per month for five months, or a lump sum of J$50,000, or the foreign currency equivalent.

“This product also gives persons the opportunity to enjoy Jamaica’s natural attractions and cultural events,” she said. These include tickets for two to explore Jamaican attractions, such as Dunn’s River Falls, YS Falls, Somerset Falls, and rafting on the Rio Grande, among others.

She noted that other incentives include dinner for two at some of the country’s noted restaurants, including Gloria’s Restaurant in Port Royal and the House Boat Grill in Montego Bay, St. James.
The product also offers discount rates at selected car rentals; and access to some of the benefits of Jamaica Automobile Association (JAA), the island’s leading automobile club, which is a member of the JN Group. Members can use their JN Teller 24/7 ATM Card to access the funds, which is safe and convenient, while on vacation. The ATM Card allows members to tap into a rewards system that offers goods and services from merchants across Jamaica, at discounted prices.
This discount programme allows the Society’s members and clients to access sizeable discounts in more than 20 establishments including accommodations, attractions, gyms and spas, among others.
The promotion for the Vacation Account will run from February to July 31, 2012, said Mrs. Look Tong, and added that persons can continue to save beyond this time under the normal Vacation Account Product. Members who open this special account will receive a complimentary travel map of the island, along with a list of businesses where they can access services at discounted rates.
