Trinidadian author and Miami resident, Prof. Carole Boyce Davies publishes new book, Caribbean Spaces: Escapes from Twilight Zones

MIAMI- November marks the prerelease of Caribbean Spaces: Escapes from Twilight Zones. With chapters like “The Portable Black Self”, “My Father Died A Second Time”, “Spirit Scapes: From Brazil to the Caribbean”, and “My Grandmother’s Violin”,

Caribbean Spaces is a vulnerably daring memoir and collection of short essays from distinguished scholar Prof. Carole Boyce Davies. Promising a less academic read; Caribbean Spaces explores the vast definitions of what it takes to (re) claim your place within the dynamic and ever-internationalizing Caribbean culture.

Caribbean Spaces will expose topics of race, questions of sexuality in the complicated lives of Caribbean-American celebrities like Rihanna; it will discuss the traumatic and transformative stories of displacement, migration, and exile that stretch as far north as Canada and across through Europe to Australia. Caribbean Spaces is a groundbreaking look into the strategic ways we build communities.

There will be a book launch dinner event Saturday, December 14th at 8pm in the art district at the Multitudes Art Gallery, 5570 NE 4th Ave. in Miami for the Trinidadian author and Miami resident, Prof. Carole Boyce Davies.

This book launch takes place in connection with Multitudes “Caribbean Fantastic” exhibit. There’s going to be a brief reading from the author, food, music, artwork, dancing, and a book signing, etc. It’s going to be a stellar night!
