Trinidad and Tobago establishes ties with Croatia

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – In ongoing efforts to expand and re-invigorate our diplomatic relations, as well as to broaden our economic interests, Trinidad and Tobago, through its Permanent Mission in New York, established formal diplomatic relations with the Republic of Croatia, in a ceremony which took place last Wednesday 14th December. Croatia is an Eastern European State soon to become the newest member of the European Union.

With the establishment of diplomatic relations between Trinidad and Tobago and Croatia, the Ambassadors affirmed the commitment of their Governments to promote ties of friendship and cooperation rooted in the principles and purposes of the United Nations Charter. In bilateral discussions during the ceremony both Ambassadors were enthusiastic about the speedy appointment of Honorary Consuls to pursue opportunities for economic and cultural exchanges.

Signing the Joint Communiqué on behalf of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago was H.E. Rodney Charles, Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, on behalf of Croatia, H.E. Mr. Ranko Vilović Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations.
