Tobago Celebrates 50 Years of Independence with Music, Culture and Trade Festival!

TOBAGO – Tobago, known as the Allure of the Caribbean™ offers a 3 day, 4 night exclusive holiday destination to international tourists and locals as the island readies to welcome the world in celebration of its Golden Jubilee!

Marking 50 years of independence from Great Britain, Tobago, the twin island to Trinidad plans a 3 day, 4 night extravaganza called the Plymouth Music, Culture and Trade Festival which includes a welcome reception for locals and visitors to the island on Thursday August 30th and Music performances as well as Pavilion presentations on Friday August 31st, Saturday September 1st and Sunday September 2nd, 2012.

In partnership with airlines, cruise ships and travel agencies, Tobago will offer visitors exceptional travel and accommodation packages designed to make Plymouth an annual travel destination!

The music festival, a culmination of the biggest, best and brightest talents in music will include popular contemporary artists as well as Spanish, French, and Dutch. “We’re including music from all backgrounds which reflect the melting pot of culture and people here on the island” said Natasha Thomas, one of the events planners.

In addition to the welcome reception and Music Festival, organizers have incorporated activities for children which include art and craft workshops using material ancestors would have used at the time of British colonialism. For parents, pavilions of French, Spanish and English influence will also be on display, highlighting each countries contribution to the culture of the island.

As for the location of the festival, the Plymouth Recreational Grounds is picturesque and sits slightly elevated above the Caribbean Sea, making the view and the back drop of artists performances stunning. Locals say it is one of the most romantic locations in the Caribbean, thus making it alluring!
