The Fort Lauderdale Strikers to partner with First Fridays – Engaging South Florida’s Caribbean-American and African-American Community

Pembroke Pines – First Fridays of Florida welcomes the Fort Lauderdale Strikers, “South Florida’s Professional Soccer Team” to their First Fridays event on April 1st, 2011.

This “Welcome Back to Broward County” mixer starts at 10:00 p.m. and will be held at the Grand Palms Resort, 110 Grand Palms Drive in Pembroke Pines. The Fort Lauderdale Strikers have partnered with First Fridays to engage the community to introduce the team, meet players and offer discounted 2011 season tickets. This event is open to the South Florida community.

“For over a decade, in addition to the monthly social and networking events, First Fridays of Florida has strived to seek opportunities to serve South Florida’s urban community. The popularity of soccer has significantly increased over the years in the United States and we pleased to work with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers to assist with their success in the South Florida market’’ said Andrew Fuller, Director – First Fridays of Florida, LLC.

In addition to hosting the Strikers, this month’s First Fridays event features DJs Radcliffe & iicon in the Party Zone spinning the best variety of R&B, Reggae, Soul, Hip Hop, Soca and Old School; while the Island Lounge features Miami Carnival DJ of the Year 2010 DJ Dorenzo delivering Calypso, Soca, Dancehall, Salsa and other Caribbean tunes. First Fridays also presents The Café, an outdoor setting showcasing a variety of foods that include Jerk Pork & Chicken from Dino’s Jerk Joint and Peppered Shrimp, Smoked Salmon, Stuffed Crab Backs & Oysters from Ward’s Seafood Bar.

The Fort Lauderdale Strikers recently named Tim Robbie as the new President of the team. The Robbie family were the original owners of the Strikers from 1977 to 1983 and have a rich history in South Florida sports. “The return of the Strikers signals a revival in not only the Striker name but a legacy in South Florida.

The Strikers were a household name in the 1970’s and 80’s and we are committed to becoming the best organization we can be and improving every aspect of our team, “said Strikers President Tim Robbie.

The Strikers begin their regular season on April 9th at Lockhart Stadium versus FC Edmonton.
