U.S. Department of Commerce MBDA National Director to have Roundtable talks with Minority-owned Businesses in Broward County
SOUTH FLORIDA – U.S. Department of Commerce MBDA National Director, Alejandra Castillo, will meet with clients and strategic partners of the local MBDA Business Center, Operated by M. Gill & Associates, Inc. at its office in Broward County. Each client will be given the chance to discuss some of the key challenges they are facing along with highlighting the assistance they received from the Center.
“Many minority-owned businesses continue to be faced with the challenges of accessing capital, enhancing brand awareness and securing public and commercial contracts. Ms. Castillo aims to address these issues and will offer local and national solutions,” said MBDA Business Center Operator and Executive Director, Marie R. Gill.
Appointed by current U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Penny Pritzker, Ms. Castillo is the first Hispanic American woman to lead the MBDA Agency since its creation in 1970. Ms. Castillo works tirelessly to expand the Agency’s strategic efforts to assist minority business enterprises to thrive and create jobs through access to capital, access markets and business opportunities in domestic and global markets. Under the Obama administration, the MBDA has assisted minority-owned firms in obtaining over $14 billion in contracts and capital and creating and retaining over 33,000 jobs.
Ms. Castillo will keynote the August 1st luncheon at the National Urban League Conference. This collaborative effort between the MBDA Agency and its South Florida Business Center is timely, as it affords the Center’s clients and partners the opportunity to present their perspectives and needs to the Agency’s National Director.
The local MBDA Business Center provides Technical Assistance to local MBE’s via access to capital, access to contracts, access to markets and access to advanced technology. The Roundtable Meeting with the MBDA National Director is by special invitation and will commence Friday, July 31, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at the MBDA Business Center’s office located in Fort Lauderdale, FL 33311.
